I'm very honored to have edited and shepherded two incredible new pieces of thoughtful journalism and analysis on agroecology and political geography in Palestine and Lebanon.
Luke Carneal wrote a powerful piece about Youssef Abu Rabie -- a piece that, as we were editing it, horribly turned into a eulogy as Israel killed Abu Rabie with an airstrike in October. Read "A Picture of Farming in Gaza Today: In Remembrance of Youssef Saqr Abu Rabie" in Jadaliyya now. Elia El Khazen and Michelle Eid wrote of the devastating impacts Israel's bombardment of Lebanon has had on local food systems and agriculture. In the midst, communities came together in food-based mutual aid efforts. While the "ceasefire" has been announced, Israel continues to violate Lebanese sovereignty, making these efforts still all too needed. Read "Fighting Fire with Community: Local Initiatives Rise Up Amidst the Israeli War on Lebanon" in Jadaliyya now.
