Gabi Kirk
Asilah, Morocco
Political ecologist of Palestine and California.
I'm currently an assistant professor in the Department of Geography, Environment, and Spatial Analysis at Cal Poly Humboldt in Goud'ini (Arcata, California). I am also affiliated with Environmental Studies and the Critical Agriculture Studies and Agroecology program and core faculty in the Environment & Community MA.
I am a 2026-2027 American Association of University Women (AAUW) Postdoctoral Research Fellow and a recipient of Cal Poly Humboldt's 2026 McCrone Promising Faculty Scholars Award.
I'm working on two books, one on Palestinian transnational food sovereignty and the second on political ecological connections between Palestine and California. I believe both places and their people have much to teach us about resisting settler colonialism, surviving climate catastrophe, and visioning sustainable futures.
